Songwriter and producer Houis knows when he has a good thing going. The up-and-comer out of NYC has teamed up with collaborator Blush’ko for a third track in Daydreamin’.
Blush’ko’s warm, smooth like honey, melt-in-your mouth (and oh the analogies could go on forever) vocal floats irresistibly over a melting instrumental, with behind-the-beat drums, a subtle guitar hook and the ever present keys with their buoyant chords.
“After having released my first EP during the summer of 2020, I was impatient to continue composing new songs and see what else I could create. However, I didn’t want my next project to have the same sound as my previous songs, so I decided to exit out of the LoFi/singer&songwriter style and into a more house music aesthetic.
During the fall of 2020, I was watching an early interview of SG Lewis speaking about his style of producing songs. He described his genre as “slowed down dance music”, and that definitely inspired to make Daydreamin’.
For this song, I wanted to incorporate a slowed down deep house beat, but with all the other instrumental elements of Alternative/RnB music - and luckily, Blush’ko’s voice pulled the whole song together.” - Houis
Verse:
I feel you almost every night,
So soft,
Ya floating in my mind,
To take me up to paradise,
I hope I never realize
Hook:
I got caught up in a daydream,
Thinking bout ya lately
Star gazing with ya baby
If only you could come, back and save me
Tag:
I'm stuck inside a daydream (x4)
Verse 2:
No I can't,
Think of any other place so wonderful,
Singing in the wind, whenever I'm alone,
Takes me somewhere else.. when I don't belong
(When I don't belong)
Hook:
I got caught up in a daydream,
Thinking bout ya lately
Stargazing with ya baby
If only you could come, back and save me (x2)
Tag:
I'm stuck inside a daydream (x4)
Pre Chorus:
Now I'm holding onto something I don't know,
Been ridin’ on this train, on my own
Looking for a star that feels like home
But I'm too far gone
Hook:
I got caught up in a daydream,
Thinking bout ya lately
Stargazing with ya baby
If only you could come, back and save me (x2)
